The Ambrose Beacon - Alena Gouveia Ok, wow. This book has officially dropped my jaw, and blown my mind. While reading this book, I've cried, laughed, shrieked, and chewed off four of my finger nails...let me tell you why.

This story starts off simple, normal, taking a casual look at the Ambrose family, and getting to know each of the characters individually. We join each of them in personal struggles they have, the personal challenges they each face, and see the world through their eyes. Then, their whole world gets turned upside down, chaos erupts, and they pull you along with them on a fantastic adventure. With mysteries and secrets popping up everywhere, and creatures you love to hate jumping from the shadows, you can't help but get sucked in. Filled with a perfect balance of action, suspense, and humor, this book is completely amazing.

I loved each one of the characters individually, and as a whole set. They make a wonderful family, and one you'd love to be a part of. They're all so unique, and yet so similar, they draw you in, and you love each of them by Chapter 3. Seeing each of them grow, and face the challenges that come before them, was really fantastic.

The writing style is really wonderful. Typically, there is one, maybe two main characters. In this story, there are many, and we see the events unfold through each of their eyes, all while keeping the story flowing and moving forward easily. Having so many main characters added a layer of depth to the story that I wasn't expecting, but truly loved. It read so quickly and flowed so easily, I was able to follow each character through the chaos and mayhem, without skipping a beat. Mr. Gouveia does a fantastic job of creating intricate layers of events, and brings order and structure to a complicated series of events, keeping it easy to follow.

This is a story I'd absolutely love to see turned into a movie, and is already a series I could see being the next Lord of the Rings. For now, this is a book I enjoyed immensely. While there was a wonderful sense of closure to this leg of the Ambrose adventure, there are several things left unanswered, that have left me highly anticipating the sequel. I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves a great adventure, you're sure to be satisfied.
